The exam is a gateway for aspirants seeking admission in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes), and also serves as a screening test for JEE Advanced, which is a mandatory test for taking admission in the IITs.

JEE Main 2025 Expected Cutoff (Qualifying)

Note: The cut-off marks are percentiles, and the percentile for each category may vary year to year depending on the difficulty level of the question paper, the number of candidates, and the number of seats.

  • General PB/Draft Score: ~90th-94th percentile
  • EWS: ~75–80 percentile
  • OBC-NCL: ~74–80 percentile
  • SC: ~55–65 percentile
  • ST: ~45–55 percentile

  • Academic Qualification: Applicant must have passed Class 12th (with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects) along with Chemistry/Biology/Technical Vocational subject.
  • JEE Main Score: Admission is as per JEE Main rank, which is what we look at and not the score or percentile.
  • Seat Allotment: We use the services of JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). Students put in their choices, and then seats are filled based on rank, category, and also on seat availability.
  • Home State Quota: We have 50% of the seats reserved for students from the same state in which the NIT is located.

TOP IIITs ACCEPTING JEE MAIN- HIGHLIGHTS AND ADMISSION CRITERIA

The IIITs are institutes of national importance in India that focus on information technology and computer science. Currently, there are 25 IIITs present in India (5 are fully government-funded while the rest are PPPs). IIITs are known for their industry alignment and modern technical education.

IIIT Hyderabad

A research-focused institute in India, which is also often referred to as IIIT Ahmedabad. It offers separate admission routes through UGEE/SAT/JEE, but also accepts JEE Main for a limited number of programs.

IIIT Delhi

An autonomous institution that offers exceptional education in CSE, ECE, as well as design & computing. Admission is granted based on JEE Main, along with state-specific counselling for candidates from Delhi.

 IIIT Bangalore

Mostly known for postgraduate programs, but also offers integrated M.Tech via JEE Main.

IIIT Allahabad

Most sought after because of CSE and management technology integration.

IIIT Gwalior (ABV-IIITM)

Offers a distinctive combination of Management and IT through dual degree programs.

IIIT Jabalpur

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR IIITs- 2025

  • Eligibility: Students must pass Class 12 in Physics and Mathematics. As for other subjects, they vary by institute.
  • Admission Process:.

Central IIITs take part in JoSAA counseling.

State IIITs (like IIIT-Delhi or IIIT-Hyderabad) may run separate admission processes or enroll in limited JEE Main.

  • Cutoff Trends: IIIT Hyderabad sees very high ranks in that field ( less than 2000 for CSE).

RESERVATION POLICIES

All NIT and IIIT institutions follow the central government’s reservation rules:

  • OBC-NCL: 0.27.
  • SC: Fifteen percent.
  • ST: 7 out of 100.
  • EWS: Ten percent.
  • PwD: 5 out of 100 (which is a total across all categories).

Also, in addition to the Home State and other State quotas, which are offered by NITs, IIITs usually base themselves on a single national merit list unless otherwise specified.

TIPS FOR ASPIRING CANDIDATES (2025)

  1. Stay Updated on JoSAA: Allotment rounds, cutoffs, and schedule will be made available online. Mark the official site (https://josaa.nic.in).
  2. Research Institutes: Look beyond the rankings. Check out past placement records, location, specializations they offer, and research exposure.
  3. As per your category rank shortlist, which NITs/IIITs are a good fit for you? Use tools like last year’s opening and closing ranks for a better choice in the fill-up.
  4. Also, don’t ignore the newer institutes; some of the more recent NITs and IIITs may not have that brand value yet, but they do have great faculty, modern labs, and better chances of getting into your choice of branch.
  5. Have backup options: look at GFTIs and state-level engineering colleges if your JEE Main rank does not get you into the top NITs/IIITs.

CONCLUSION

Unlike getting high scores during JEE Main 2025, which requires nothing but hard work and gathering as much knowledge as you can, getting admission in the Best NITs and IIITs accepting JEE Main 2025 is no mean task as it requires strategic planning, right action at the right time, and complete awareness about the admission process.
