Vibhor Bhardwaj, who secured All India Rank 19 in the Civil Services Examination 2024 in his third attempt, has emerged as an inspiration for many civil service aspirants. His journey from a rural Uttar Pradesh to becoming an IRMS officer and an IAS officer is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
Vibhor Bhardwaj Family Background
Vibhor Bhardwaj was born and raised in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. He did his schooling from Bulandshahr. His father, Satishchand, is a mechanical engineer by profession, and his mother is a homemaker.
Vibhor Bhardwaj Educational Background
Vibhor Bhardwaj did his schooling from his native place. After completing School in 2016, Vibhor moved to Delhi for his bachelor’s. He joined Hansraj College in Delhi for his bachelor’s in science in physics. After graduating from Hansraj College in 2019, he joined Delhi University for his masters in Physics. His preparation for the UPSC started in 2021.
Vibhor Bhardwaj Work Experience
After clearing UPSC in his first attempt with an All India rank of 743, he was allocated to Indian Railway Management Services in 2022. At IRMS, his role involved overseeing various aspects of railway management and its effective operation. After he failed to clear UPSC in his second attempt, he decided to take a one-year Extraordinary leave to prepare for UPSC exams 2024.
Vibhor Bhardwaj UPSC Journey
Vibhor began his civil services preparation after completing his Master’s in Physics in 2021. In his first attempt in 2022, he successfully cleared the UPSC exam, securing an All India Rank of 752, and was allocated to the Indian Railway Management Services (IRMS). With a strong determination to achieve a higher rank, he appeared again in the 2023 examination, where he missed final selection even after clearing the interview. Taking a one-year extraordinary leave from IRMS, Vibhor dedicated himself fully to his preparation. His perseverance and dedication paid off in his third attempt, where he cleared the exam and secured an impressive All India Rank of 19.
Vibhor started preparing for UPSC with a goal to contribute positively to society. He believes that services like IAS offer a great platform for bringing change and dealing with various problems faced by society. Vibhor considers civil services as a calling to serve the public and not just a career choice.
Vibhor Bhardwaj Preparation Strategy
Vibhor’s preparation strategy for UPSC exams were well planned. He focused on completing the mains syllabus, including general studies and physics as the optional paper. He made concise and effective notes for quick revision. Vibhor practiced writing answers and participating in various test series on a regular basis. He analysed previous year questions to understand the pattern and relevance of questions in the UPSC examination. He read newspapers regularly to keep him updated with current affairs. Vibhor stated that peer groups are a great source of support and motivation while preparing for the UPSC exams.
Vibhor Bhardwaj Optional Paper
Vibhor chose Physics as his optional subject for the UPSC CSE, the subject which he has done in his Bachelor’s and Master’s. His deep understanding of the subject enabled him to present well-structured answers in the UPSC examination.
Vibhor Bhardwaj Interests and Hobbies
– Gardening: Vibhor is passionate about ecological gardening.
– Music: Vibhor Bhardwaj is passionate about playing the guitar. He has developed a unique style of playing guitar by blending various techniques.
– Reading: Keeps himself updated with national and international affairs.
Hailing from a rural village in UP, Vibhor Bhardwaj made it clear that anyone can become a civil servant with persistence.
