Ashish Kumar – Biography
He is a 28-year-old aspirant turned UPSC CSE topper. His journey from being an aspirant to becoming an IAS came to the final stage on the 16th of April this year when the UPSC results were out.
Born and brought up in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, Ashish Kumar’s story of becoming an IAS is nothing short of inspirational for those who have seen failure and still striving. Ashish cracked the civil service exam in his fifth attempt after a series of failures.
Despite the failures, Ashish did not let his morale go down and continued his preparation until he achieved success.

He is an IITian. He did his master’s degree in manufacturing science and engineering at IIT (Kharagpur). The skills he gathered at IIT eventually facilitated him in his preparation for the UPSC CSE. Especially the analytical and problem-solving skills proved to be strategic in handling the range of subjects UPSC exams poses to an aspirant.
Ashish Kumar – Work Experience
After his master’s from IIT Kharagpur went on to serve in the IT sector in the company cognizant. But soon he left his job to fulfill his dream of becoming an IAS officer.
In an interview he revealed this, saying he wanted to serve where his efforts are rewarded and he really wants to serve the society and make a difference in the lives of the marginalized sections.

Ashish Kumar, hailing from Bharatpur Rajasthan belongs to a family where education is valued the most. His father is an educational professional and his mother is a housewife. His dreams are strongly supported by his family which eventually resulted in Ashish securing an impressive rank of 8th in the UPSC CSE of this year.

Ashish Kumar started preparing for UPSC after quitting his job in the IT sector at a reputed company (cognizant). After quitting his job he started his full-time preparation for the civil service examination.
He attempted four times but faced consequent failure. However, he didn’t let the cloud of failure shroud his dream and continued his preparation with more rigour and dedication. He finally succeeded in cracking the prestigious UPSC exams with the rank of 8.

As for his optional, he chose sociology. The reason behind choosing sociology was Ashish‘s desire to serve society. His eagerness to serve society, his dedication and diligence in continuing his preparation after four failures, and his eventual success proved to be a beacon of hope for the many aspirants who are striving to achieve.
Ashish Kumar – IAS Success story and Future Plans
Ashish Kumar AIR 8, cracked UPSC exams after four consecutive failures. With hard work and due diligence, he successfully cracked the UPSC exams on his fifth attempt. His success proved to be a great source of inspiration for others who are struggling in their UPSC journey.
After becoming an IAS Ashish gave his cadre preference for IAS followed by IPS and IFS. He also showed his desire to serve in his state Rajasthan. Other regions include Haryana too. He wants to serve in these places to work for the marginalised sections of these places.

The marksheet of Ashish Kumar is yet to be revealed. However, Ashish secured an impressive score of 1045 which catapulted him in becoming one of the toppers of UPSC by getting him an 8th rank on an all-India basis.
